CERTIFICATE

Certificate in Art and Science

The current artistic practices that take place in the junction of science and technology require practical and theoretical knowledge for their production to take place, as well as for their understanding and criticism. This knowledge needs to be constantly updated, given the vertiginousness with which science and technology advance, and they must also be plural and multidisciplinary. This certificate has a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary orientation: a focus on technologies (from programming to 3D printing), on sciences (from DNA sequencing and recombination to contemporary science theory), on philosophy and art history (from Aesthetics to Art) and on communication and science.

The objective of the certificate is to provide the student with theoretical and practical knowledge in methodology, digital, electronic and living media in order to produce projects at the intersection with science and technology. Participants are invited to critically examine all elements of the creative process in the intertwining of art and science. This includes: conceptualization, experimentation, production, exhibition and communication of artistic products. The program is aimed at the public interested in the production, understanding, criticism and transdisciplinary interpretation in the crossing of art, science, technology and philosophy.

It is divided into two modules: (1) methodology and theory, (2) practice and experimentation. Participants can take the two modules simultaneously or one at a time. This certificate is a collaboration between the MuAC and the FFyL and will begin with its first edition in 2017.
