Arte+Ciencia Research and Creation Group
The group is part of the UNAM and was founded in 2011 under the direction of María Antonia González Valerio. It has its main headquarters in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. Their main interest is to open and consolidate within the University the line of research and creation within the intercrossing of arts, sciences, and humanities. Humanists, artists and scientists work together exploring inter and transdisciplinary methods.
They work mainly in four tasks:
1. Theoretical research. It produces theoretical knowledge that thinks the relationship between arts, sciences, and technologies. Different theoretical approaches and horizons of interpretation are defended. It seeks the production of specialized articles and collective books that address in Spanish some of the problems of urgent debate and discussion.
2. Artistic creation. It promotes and collaborates with art projects, generates ad hoc groups for their development, and summons specialists according to the specific areas required.
3. Academic formation. They founded the first interdisciplinary seminar on subjects within the humanities, arts, and sciences with curricular value for four postgraduate courses: Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Art History and Visual Arts.
4. Networking. The group organizes academic events to exhibit the results of the research and artworks.
